Adam Tolmach of Ojai Vineyard is one of the pioneers of the Santa Barbara County wine scene. He founded Au Bon Climat with Jim Clendenen, then moved on to start Ojai in 1983.

With some of the oldest vines in Santa Barbara County, Bien Nacido is an iconic American vineyard with great history. At the environmental extreme for getting ripe Pinot Noir, low yields ensure the fruit, while high elevation, a long growing season and shale-based soils give its wines aromatic complexity, structure and minerality. Farmed organically.

“I suspect one of the finest wines I’ve tasted from this incredibly talented team, the 2016 Pinot Noir Bien Nacido offers heavenly notes of red currants, forest floor, flowers, and spices, with subtle marine-like salinity. A wine that just glides over the palate, with incredible elegance, especially from this more masculine site, it has ultra-fine tannins, perfectly integrated acidity, and a great, great finish. It’s a incredible Pinot Noir from a great winemaker and a great vineyard. Drink it over the coming decade or more.” Jeb Dunnuck – 97 Points
